In Utah, obtaining a hunting license is a crucial step for any hunter looking to hunt the state’s diverse wildlife. Requirements|Hunting License Utah

Age Requirement: Individuals aged 12 years or older are eligible to hunt in Utah. Youth aged 11 may apply for big game permits if they turn 12 by December 31 of the hunting year.

Hunter Education: Completion of a state-approved Hunter Education course is mandatory for all first-time hunters born after December 31, 1965. Alternatively, Utah offers a Trial Hunting Program for newcomers, allowing them to hunt under the supervision of a licensed adult without completing the course initially.

Types of Licenses:

Basic Hunting License: Covers small game species such as upland game birds and waterfowl.

Combination License: Includes both hunting and fishing privileges.

Big Game Permits: Required in addition to a basic license for hunting all big game. These are obtained through a separate application and draw process, or purchased directly from Utah Division of Wildlife or authorized dealer.
